Best Garden Irrigation System
Gardeners know that having beautiful healthy plants requires just the right amounts of sunlight, fertilizer, and water to help them thrive. The watering part of the equation can be particularly time-consuming, especially if you have a lot of individual plants and you water them all by hand. A garden irrigation system can make life so much easier! After a thorough examination of several systems, we have found that the Raindrip R560DP Automatic Container and Hanging Baskets Kit is the best garden irrigation system.

We chose the Raindrip R560DP Automatic Container and Hanging Baskets Kit due to the completeness of its offering, its versatility, easy assembly, price, and functionality.
It doesn’t take an expert to install and it goes together relatively fast. It comes with a programmable timer and a five-year limited warranty, though we should note that if you already have a timer, you may be able to purchase a cheaper system without one.
Runner Up Best DIY Garden Irrigation System
Coming in second on our list is the Blumat Tropf Starter Parent (12 Pack with Reservoir).
If you love the idea of a gravity-based watering system this is the bomb! Very few parts to go bad, no water spigot, pressure regulators, or control valves needed. And you can use this virtually anywhere.
It is designed to sense when the plants need water and only releases the right amount to each plant when required, keeping them moist but not too wet or dry.

Budget Pick: Best Drip Irrigation System
For those on a budget, the Flantor Garden Irrigation System is a great choice. It is easy to assemble and use—simply hook it up to a water spigot.
You can add a timer (not included) if you want worry-free watering without having to turn on and off the water—especially nice when you’re away from home.
The great thing about this one is each nozzle is individually adjustable. It gives a soft spray as opposed to a drip, covering more ground with each nozzle.

You can use this for your in-ground garden, raised beds, flower pots, greenhouse—basically anywhere. You can even set it up in your greenhouse!
Assembly is easy, just follow the simple instructions to put it together.
You can purchase a garden hose timer, like an Orbit timer, if you don’t want to have to turn on the spigot manually each time. If you like gadgets, consider pairing the Flantor with a wifi water timer!
We should note that some customers have reported problems with leaks. If this is the case you can use Teflon Tape like this Everflow to stop the leaking.
You’ll also want to purchase a pressure regulator like this Senninger regulator to keep water pressure at around 25 psi for optimal use.
An alternative is to keep the water spigot turned down so it has a lower output, but just be sure it doesn’t get opened up to full power, as this can damage your irrigation system.

Raindrip R560DP Automatic Container and Hanging Baskets Kit
The Raindrip R560DP system is, in our opinion, the best garden irrigation kit available. One of the big distinguishing features of the RainDrip is that the timer is included as part of the system. This makes the system fully functional from out of the box, which is a big help. Though if you already have a timer, it may be an added expense.
Also, we love the 5-year warranty, which is another great feature here!
What’s Included
- 75 ft. of pre-assembled 1/4″ tubing
- 1 timer
- 20 drip emitters (1/2 gallon/hour)
- 20 stakes
- 2 connectors
- 2 elbows
- 20 tees
- 1 end clamp
- 10 nails and clamps
Key Points at a Glance
- Easy to install, simple to use
- Comes with a Raindrip programmable timer

- Five-year limited warranty
- Made with high-quality durable parts that will last season after season
Dimensions
- Product dimensions: 1.1” X 6.8” X 3.8”
- Item weight: 1.44 oz.
- Shipping weight: 2.6 lbs.
The Details
The Raindrip R560DP Automatic Container and Hanging Baskets Kit was our top choice “best garden irrigation system” for a number of reasons.
The most significant features that put the Raindrip system over the top are its versatility, functionality, and extras such as a programmable timer and five-year limited warranty.
All this is included for a very reasonable price!
Its high-quality components are made from linear, low-density polyethylene and UV inhibitors to resist damage from the elements.
You can use this system in your garden, landscaped areas, raised beds, or with potted plants—wherever you want hassle free irrigation.
The programmable timer is a real bonus for automatic watering whether you’re home or away. Once this is installed, there’s no need for maintenance.
During the cold winter months, simply unhook the timer and bring it inside.
Like our budget choice, the Flantor Garden Irrigation System, this doesn’t come with a pressure regulator.
Since drip systems require lower water pressure to operate properly (standard residential is about 40-60 psi), it’s a good idea to purchase a Raindrip regulator that will keep the pressure at about 25 psi.
This kit is so easy to install you’ll be saving time and money before you know it—only three steps required: connect the timer and hose to your outside spigot, organize and arrange your supply tubing, and connect the pre-assembled waterlines that lead to your plants.
That’s it!

The Raindrip R560DP Automatic Container and Hanging Baskets Kit has everything you need to build a durable, cost effective drip watering system that’s versatile enough to cover most any situation.
No need to buy a separate timer because it’s included. You also have peace of mind, knowing it’s backed by a five-year warranty.
This was the only system reviewed that included a timer and warranty. That, along with the super price point, propelled this kit to the top of our list, earning the title “best garden irrigation system”.

KORAM IR-D 50 Feet Blank Distribution Tubing Hose Plant Watering Irrigation Drip Kit
The Koram IR-D system is another feature-full system, offering plenty of nozzles, connectors, and tubes to enable you to hook up your whole garden to an automatic irrigation system.
Unlike the Raindrip above, this one does not include a timer.

- 1/2″ and 3/4″ quick connect socket
- 1/4″ tubing quick connect
- 20 drip emitters

- Step by Step instructions on the box
- Can water up to 40 potted plants
Dimensions
- Package dimensions: 11” X 7.2” X 3.5”
- Item weight: 1.65 lbs.
The Details
The KORAM IR-D water emitting system is a good, functional system for its price point. It will hold up well to the elements.
The orange sprayers cover a large area and both sprayers and emitters work well.
You will need to buy a hose adapter, a pressure regulator, and a timer (such as this Orbit timer), so this isn’t really a “complete kit” like some of the other kits on our list.
Nevertheless, for the price point KORAM is hitting here, it may make sense to add some accessories after the fact.

It will save you time and money, providing needed irrigation to your garden or container plants without the hassle of having to water by hand.
If you add a programmable timer it can be fully automated as well. However, some additional parts are required to make it complete.

Blumat Tropf Starter Parent (12 Pack with Reservoir)
The Blumt Troph system is a bit different from the other drip irrigation kits that we have looked at today. Instead of hooking the system up to a typical garden hose spigot, this system uses a gravity fed watering tank to supply water when it is needed, to your plants.
The gravity fed system is really cool, and it’s great for those who are looking to water plants in a remote location far from a spigot. But it’s also less “set and forget” compared to the other items on our list.
What’s Included
- Five-gallon gravity tank
- 12 Blumat five-inch carrots
- 23 feet of eight-millimeter tubing
- A sizable supply of connectors, Tees, Elbows, etc.
Key Points at a Glance
- Gravity fed watering system
- Includes everything you need to water approximately 38 sq. feet or 12 potted plants
- Comes with a five-gallon gravity tank
- Not appropriate for hanging plants
- Made in Austria with high-quality materials
Dimensions
- Product dimensions: 22” X 15” X 15”
- Item weight: 4.8 lbs.
The Details
The Blumat Tropf starter Parent (12 Pack with Reservoir) is a fully self-contained watering system that has no moving parts to break down.
Its dependability, functionality and high-quality elevates this system to “best runner-up” status in our lineup.
You don’t need to connect it to a water supply, use a pump, batteries or electricity, which makes it a great choice for when you want to water far from any garden hose spigot.
This makes it great for hobby greenhouses and portable greenhouses, elevated garden beds, and the like that are far from the main house.
Instead of a hose connection, you simply position your tank above the plants needing to be watered, insert the watering carrots into the soil with the tubing connected, and let gravity do the rest.
The ceramic carrots sense when the soil is starting to dry out and deliver just the right amount of water at the perfect time for healthy and beautiful plants. It is not as “hands off” as the other systems reviewed here (especially if you have a programmable timer hooked to them) due to the fact that you need to keep filling the reservoir every few days, but it is super efficient!
However, if you’re away from home for more than a few days, you would need a larger water reservoir than the one included with this kit, so consider that aspect when shopping for an irrigation system.
Unfortunately, since this is a gravity fed system, it’s not appropriate for hanging baskets because the reservoir needs to be higher than the plants in order to function.
The Bottom Line
A great concept and well-built, this system is easy to put together and maintain (as long as you don’t let the reservoir run dry). All you do, once it is assembled, is fill the reservoir and it does the rest. It delivers the perfect amount of water to each of your plants when they need it with its special sensing capabilities.
Engineered to last, the Blumat system is a great alternative to hand watering all your individual plants.
The Blumat system is on the pricey side, but when compared to running water lines and spigots hundreds of feet, could be a relatively cheap system, depending on your circumstances.
