The Ravenna line is the most aesthetically pleasing furniture cover line around, and given that much time is spent staring out at covered furniture, having a nice looking cover set is a big plus.

The Details: Waterproof Patio Furniture Covers
The Classic Accessories Ravenna line of waterproof patio furniture covers is made with what CA calls Gardelle One woven polyester fabric. It is coated with a UV stabilizer, and should not crack or wear in the sun. It is also fused to a PVC waterproof laminated undercloth to help keep the furniture nice and dry even in the worst conditions.
This cover attaches to your patio furniture set using elastic hem cords with cinches on them, and straps with buckles on the end for additional security. These buckles are designed to tie around your furniture legs and hold the cover to the furniture.

The Classic Accessories Veranda line of patio table and chair covers are durable and water resistant, but they are a definite step down from the Ravenna cover line both in materials and aesthetics. They are covered under a respectable 3-year warranty.
The Veranda covers feature a reasonably attractive two-tone style, with a light tan on the top of the cover and a darker greenish gray on the bottom.

When you are measuring up your table and chairs, be sure to push the chairs in completely and measure the width from chair back to chair back.
The sizing on the Veranda covers tends to run a little big, so if you’re on the cusp between two covers, you probably want to aim for the smaller one.
The Details
The Classic Accessories Veranda line of waterproof outdoor furniture covers are quite nice, they are made of a similar heavy duty Gardelle fabric to the Ravenna line of covers, though it is a bit flimsier. These feature a water-resistant fabric top, a waterproof PVC protective laminated under-cloth, and a splash guard skirt for the furniture bases (the dark colored fabric).
These covers secure to your furniture using buckle straps on the corners, and air vents are present to allow air flow through the cover, and protection from lofting. There is also a drawstring hem on the bottom that helps hold the cover to the furniture.
Finally, padded handles are present on these covers, to enable easy placement and removal of the covers over your furniture pieces.
Getting these covers over the table and chairs can be a bit of a chore, and can cause rips if you pull too hard. By using an inflatable pillow, or some other mechanism to keep the center of the cover higher than the chair backs, it’s much easier to get the cover in place.
Cleaning and Care
The Classic Accessories Veranda line of patio furniture covers is not machine washable. To clean, spray down with a water hose and scrub any remaining dirt away with a scrub brush and some mild soap. Leave it out in the sun to dry. If necessary, use a pressure washer to attach pesky stains.
The Bottom Line: Top Rated Patio Furniture Covers
These are nice covers, and waterproof as long as they are in good condition. Depending on your table configuration there may be space at the bottom of the covers that is unprotected. If that is an issue, search for a taller cover or try one of the others on our list.
The Veranda line of patio furniture covers is backed by a three-year manufacturers warranty. This gives us some comfort, but certainly is not the best warranty available. It is easily bested by Classic Accessories’ Ravenna line, and it makes sense to stretch a bit and purchase the Ravenna line. You’ll have it covered for life rather than just for three years.

3. Patio Armor SF40294 X-Large Mega Table and Chair Cover
Patio Armor’s Mega and Delux table covers come in a selection of shapes and sizes, with different configurations depending on your needs.
These covers are made of a dual-tone polyester fabric, with a light tan top and a darker brown skirt. This look is common, and the end result is a patio table cover that is fairly unassuming and won’t stand out on your patio, which is a good thing.

The Details
The Patio Armor series of covers are made of 380gm polyester fabric, which has a canvas-like feel. Fused to the fabric is an underside PVC material for added protection. This underlayer is coated for water protection and resists mold and mildew buildup.
These covers have side vents that allow air to be channeled through the cover, keeping the air fresh and helping to hold the cover in place on those windy days.
For security, these covers have webbed drawstrings with cinches, designed to hold the covers against your patio furniture even on those windy days that are prone to causing patio furniture to blow away.
Patio Armor does not advertise these covers as waterproof, but in practical terms, the underlayer seems to be waterproof, except perhaps in extreme conditions. However, if you find that your cover is wearing (with crumbly bits of underlayer on the table), that under layer is damaged, and will result in gaps for water to penetrate. Keep your eyes peeled for soft spots.
There is no mention of UV protectants, though Patio Armor does claim these covers are crack resistant. We are concerned that scorching sun will cause these covers to fail after a season or two. Additionally, the seams may be a weak point, and appear not to have been treated with a seam sealer tape. You may want to pick some up and apply it for extra protection.
Cleaning and Care
The Patio Armor line of furniture covers is not machine washable. They are fairly easily cleaned by wiping down or hosing off with some water. For stubborn stains, scrub with a brush and some mild detergent.
The Bottom Line: Waterproof Patio Furniture Covers
The Patio Armor line of covers is a pretty good quality line, priced reasonably aggressively, and with a decent feature set. The covers are largely waterproof and do a decent job of staying put, on your furniture.
We wish Patio Armor had included additional straps with buckles or Velcro, as the cinch tie material is stretchy, and is not the ideal material, especially on the larger format covers.
These covers are backed by a one-year limited warranty, which is good, but compared to some of the other warranties out there, is not the best. Still, given their price point, these covers are among the best-rated patio furniture covers available for those who need to protect their patio furniture.

4. AmazonBasics Dining Table Patio Cover – 72-Inch
The AmazonBasics patio cover set is made by Amazon as part of their AmazonBasics line and features a simple two-tone design that is pleasantly unobtrusive.
Amazon sells a couple of different varieties of this cover, one group designed around covering both tables and chairs together, and another just for a patio table.
While we are quite fond of AmazonBasics’ offerings in general, these covers generally don’t compete very strongly with Classic Accessories’ offerings, mainly due to the warranty considerations.

The Details
The AmazonBasics line of patio furniture covers is made of 100% woven polyester fabric, and is water resistant and designed to stay firmly attached to your furniture.
The covers have air vents which are designed to allow air to flow through the cover, however many users report that moisture may pool on the top of the patio furniture where the cover rests against the furniture. If you have fragile outdoor furniture, this may be an issue for you and you may want to look elsewhere.
The bottom of the cover has a splash guard (the darker color tone on the cover) to protect against water damage, however, beware that the height of these covers is only 23″, so a good deal of the bottom of your furniture will be exposed to the elements!
The cover is secured to the furniture using two straps with buckles on the ends, which loop through your furniture legs. Four would certainly have been better. The top of the cover is not seamless, but the seams are double stitched for high-quality strength.
Amazon includes a cinch in the splash guard to help hold the cover to the furniture pieces. Additionally, loop handles are included to make installation and removal of these covers fairly easy.
When the cover is on the patio set, you may want to place something on the table to keep the cover from directly resting on the table. There is a chance that in the hot sun, some of the cover material will melt onto your table.
Cleaning and Care
Simply wipe the cover down with a cloth with some water, and most stains, pollen, and grime will come right off. For more difficult stains, try scrubbing with a mild detergent and a scrub brush. The light color of this cover may make it show stains more significantly over time, which is a concern.
The Bottom Line: Decent Outdoor Patio Furniture Covers
The AmazonBasics patio cover line is a decent quality patio cover, but there’s no mention of UV protection, so it may well not last very long in the hot sun. Amazon warranties these covers for 1 year, which is better than nothing, but far worse than what many competing brands offer.
While we like the AmazonBasics cover, we feel that some of the other top rated patio furniture covers on this list are worth the extra cost.

5. Abba Patio Outdoor/Porch Table and Chair Set Cover, Water-repellent and Fire Resistant, All Weather Protection, Tan
Abba Patio is one of our favorite outdoor products brands (we love their cantilever umbrellas!), but their patio furniture covers leave a bit to be desired. Abba Patio has a wide range of patio furniture covers, with several different sizes of circular, rectangular, and square table covers to choose from.
The Abba Patio covers are all the same general tan color and are probably the least attractive of all of the patio furniture covers on our list. Some of the covers Abba Patio lists feature dark piping around the seams, which helps the aesthetics somewhat.

The Details
These Abba Patio covers are relatively inexpensive, and they are advertised as fireproof, but they are not waterproof. Most people are more concerned with their patio furniture getting wet than they are of it catching fire!
The material is a 185K polyester yarn material in a khaki color and is both breathable and mold resistant. The covers are double stitched and do a decent job of keeping the dirt off of your tables, but we would not suggest relying on a cover like this for true winter protection, and in fact, Abba Patio does not recommend these covers for heavy storms.
These covers are held in place by drawstrings located around the bottom of the cover. These cinch around your patio table and chairs. However, these drawstrings may loosen over time and eventually allow your cover to blow off of your patio furniture on a gusty day. There are no straps or buckles to assist in holding the cover down.
There is no information about UV Protection on these covers, so our assumption is that they will not stand up to the sun’s heat long term.
Cleaning and Care
These covers come with a storage box, and when packed away, are quite unobtrusive. They cannot be machine washed but can be sprayed down and scrubbed to remove any dirt and debris that coats the covers.
The Bottom Line: Passable Budget Lawn Furniture Covers
We are big fans of Abba Patio’s products in general, and while these patio furniture covers do a good job of keeping dirt and pollen off of your patio furniture, they aren’t great at keeping water and the elements out. Additionally, we don’t see any information about warranties here, and this is another significant missing part of these outdoor furniture covers.
If you live in a mild climate, or your patio furniture is already relatively sheltered from the weather, then the Abba Patio covers may be a decent choice for you, given the price point they hit and the build quality. However, if you need any significant weather protection, we suggest you look elsewhere.

Once you have your beautiful modern outdoor patio furniture set, you’ll need the right cover to protect it! In this buyer’s guide, we discuss a few of the most important aspects of the best outdoor patio table and chair covers, including materials quality, sizing questions, security mechanisms, and common features.
Sizing Your Outdoor Patio Furniture Cover
Getting the right sized cover for outside furniture is critical to making sure it stays in place, functions as a water-repellent barrier, and looks good on your patio. So get out your tape measure and let’s get the basics done.
First start by pushing all of the chairs in as far as they will go, so that they are as tight as they can be.
Get the following measurements:
- Length – the overall length of the table (and any end chairs) at the longest point
- Width – the overall width of the table, from chair back to chair back
- Back Height – the height of the back of the sofa, including any pillows that you intend to leave on the sofa while it is covered
- Table Height – the height of the top of the table
- Leg Height – the height of the legs of your chairs and table from the ground to the frame material. Many patio furniture covers don’t cover down to the ground, leaving some areas exposed. Most have buckles or Velcro straps that are designed to wrap around the furniture legs for security. Should you choose one of these covers that has an opening on the bottom, sure that the cover will protect all the frame material of the chairs and table, and just leave legs exposed.
Aim for a patio furniture cover that is as close in size to your furniture unit as possible, while still large enough to fit over the set. A cover that is too loose will move much more than a tightly fitting cover will, and those points of movement may wear sooner than the rest of the cover, and eventually, fail. Also, a too-large cover tends to not look great when in use. Extra fabric sticking out here and there makes for a poor silhouette. And of course, you don’t want a cover that’s too small, as it will simply not fit over your patio furniture!
Getting the right fit is 90% of the battle.
Outdoor Patio Furniture Cover Materials
Most high-quality outdoor furniture covers are made of a similar group of materials, generally either vinyl or polyester, with occasional inner linings to help soften the cover against the patio furniture. Many manufacturers have their own branded names for these fabrics, with different grades, but usually, they fall into these general categories:
Vinyl
Vinyl is usually one of the cheaper materials for a patio furniture cover, though the vinyl quality is greatly dependent on the thickness of the material. The thicker the vinyl, the more likely it is to last under adverse weather conditions.
Polyester
Polyester is a polymer fabric that is quite strong and can be quite attractive when colored the proper way. It is generally considered a slightly more robust material than vinyl for water protection, though much depends on how the polyester is treated for water-fastness.
Fleece
Fleece is a common material for inner linings of outdoor furniture covers. These inner linings are designed to give a soft material for the actual patio furniture to be in contact with so that the movement of the cover against the patio furniture won’t gradually erode the fabric, or damage the table.
Features of Outdoor Patio Furniture Covers
UV Protectants
Many covers use UV Protectant sprays to enhance fabric colorfastness and strengthen the fabric against cracks and sun damage. UV Protectants may not seem significant the first year or so of a cover’s life, but with time, fading and cracks will occur. UV protectants will slow this process, but there are very few fabrics that will remain completely colorfast in the sun. Sunbrella is generally the best fabric for UV resilience, but to our knowledge, Sunbrella does not produce any patio furniture protective covers.
Handles
Some outdoor couch covers feature sewn handles to simplify the installation and removal of patio covers. Many of these covers are large, and having a couple of people work on the covering process at the same time will make things easier. Handles are a big help.
Cinches
Some patio furniture covers are secured to the underlying furniture using cinches. These are elastic hem straps that are fed through a channel around the bottom of the cover, similar to what is commonly found on running jackets and windbreakers. By simply pulling the elastics tight and pressing down the cinch, the cover should be locked in place, tight against the furniture.
Buckles
Buckles are probably the best single cover attachment mechanism. Straps on the bottom of the cover end in buckles, similar to what is commonly found in luggage bags. These straps get wrapped around the furniture legs, and when the buckles are engaged, become a very solid bond, while also still easily removed when needed.
Velcro Ties
Velcro ties are also frequently found on outdoor furniture covers. Generally, these are simply straps of Velcro that wrap around furniture legs and secure together. The bond made by Velcro can be surprisingly strong, but in wind and rain and adverse conditions, it can get dried out and fail over time.
Vents
Vents are found on most covers as a preventative measure. Vents allow air to flow through the cover, allowing trapped moisture to leave the area, and helping to prevent mold and mildew build up. Also, vents are very effective at preventing lofting of patio furniture cover cloth in heavy wind. Most of these covers are shaped like parachutes, and if a strong gust of wind gets going underneath the cover, the cover can blow off and sail away. By using vents, air gusts are channeled through the cover, as opposed to pressing against it. The cover should stay in place.
Best Patio Furniture Covers for Winter
The Classic Accessories Ravenna line of covers are the best covers for winter storage, but there’s a little more to winter furniture covering than just the cover itself.
Dealing with Heavy Snow, Ice, and Water
Up above we suggested you measure both the table height and the chair back height so that you can find out how much of a difference there is between the chair backs and the table. This difference can quickly become a water and ice crater in the wrong environment.
When a patio table cover is placed over a table, the chair backs generally sit up significantly higher than the table top, and when heavy snow, ice, and water are present, they tend to pool over the table at the center of the cover. This circumstance results in the water and snow having no place to drain and may lead to cover failure over time.
A good solution to this problem is to throw an inflatable pillow on the table prior to placement of the cover over the table. This Duck Covers Inflatable Dome Airbag will work for most tables; there are other inflatable pillows out there that perform similar tasks.
If your patio table is of similar design to this, with the table backs higher up than the table, we suggest getting something like one of these airbag pillows to alleviate pooling around your patio table.
