The Eva Solo hanging bird feeder, made of hand-blown glass, is a lovely and stylish minimalist bird feeder. It is designed in Denmark and is a striking example of Scandinavian design.

The Details: A Classic Glass Bird Feeder

The Eva Solo hanging bird feeder includes a fixture to attach it to a tree branch, or under a pergola or the eaves of a building. You may want to consider getting a squirrel baffle for this feeder, as they can damage it if they get in there.

The Details

This bird feeder isn’t quite as sleek as some of the other pieces on this list, but it is relatively inexpensive and the suction cup design gets the birds close — right out the window! The suction cups keep the feeder attached to the window, but also allow for easy removal of the feeder for refilling and cleaning.

Birds may take a while to get to this feeder, especially if they see people moving around on the other side of the window. Scattering some seed on the ground may help attract them to the area, and slowly they will test out the window feeder, and eventually get comfortable.

Try to place this feeder in a location that is not easily accessed by a squirrel. If a squirrel does manage to jump onto the feeder from somewhere, the weight of the squirrel can topple everything and damage the feeder.

Because there are no perches on this feeder, only small birds will visit it. Also, the mesh is a bit of an awkward size: sunflower seeds are a bit too big for it, and the birds can’t get them out, and smaller seeds fall through. While they are on the expensive side (and there is a charge for shipping), given that these pieces are custom made to order, and will make a great statement piece in the garden, we feel they are a great product!

Rosso’s International Art Deco Cedar Bird feeder is a funky take on a square bird feeder, with some Art Deco flourishes for visual interest.

These feeders are beautiful but very fragile. They come with the hangars as shown, with a small rubber stopper that fits into the wine glass shaped feeder.

The Eva Solo feeders are clear, and some birds may be confused by the nature of the glass. They can see the food but sometimes can’t find the hole.

The Naturalyards Pagoda bird feeder holds 2.6 quarts of seed and is easy to fill by simply removing the top and pouring the seed in. All of the trays get filled from the same source. Also, all of the panels are removable for easy cleaning. A squirrel baffle is recommended with these feeders, as squirrels can damage the feeder.

Because there are several different feeding stations, different types of birds will be attracted to different areas, depending on their feeding preferences. This makes the feeder feel very dynamic, which is great.

The Sunscreen Modern Bird Feeder strikes an ebullient pose, with modern straight lines jutting this way and that. It is a beautiful modern bird feeder, and will certainly look fantastic in the garden!

Designer Joe Papendick makes these units to order of heavy-duty welded stainless steel and includes a steel hangar, 20″ long.

The Sunscreen Modern bird feeder is designed to work with sunflower seeds, which the birds can eat through the screen. Several stainless steel rods give plenty of spots for the birds to perch while feeding.

These are extremely high-quality units and are made to order (typically in 3-4 days).

They are not cheap, but for a modern, sculptural bird feeder of this quality, the price is quite reasonable.

Purple Heather Pottery Handmade Modern Birdfeeder

Purple Heather Pottery has on offer these delightful handmade stoneware modern bird feeders, the only ceramic feeders on our list. They are made in Indiana Purple Heather’s workshop and are remarkable creations.

The Handmade clay designs are striking, with designs available in a few different colors and finish options.

These are hand thrown on the potter’s wheel, and given the amount of work, these are positioned at a surprisingly nice price point!

It is available in two size options, both comfortable for window use.

With a styling that is slightly more striking than the Contempo Creatures and a price that is slightly higher, it is a great choice for those looking for cheerful bird watching from the window.

The Details

These bird feeders are suspended from the window by double-sided tape.

As these feeders are made of glass, you need to be completely sure that you properly install the tape against the window.

If the feeder loses its seal, it will fall and shatter.

This bird feeder is made of glass, which to us is not as appropriate as the acrylic used in the Contempo Creations design referenced above. We understand that there is more authenticity in glass than plastic, but no one wants to find out that their expensive bird feeder is a pile of broken glass in the garden. Significant temperature changes, sun exposure, etc. will likely degrade the tape’s holding power.

The Eva Solo Window Bird Feeder is squirrel-proof and is ideal for birds the size of cardinals and smaller. You’ll likely need to refill it daily, and for food, consider Wagner’s Safflower Bird Seed.

To clean this bird feeder, throw it right in the dishwasher.

The Details

And although price shouldn’t be the final decider, considering that this model is pretty high priced, for a fairly small bird feeder, it’s a lot to swallow!

So yes, it will make a great addition to any outdoor area and is likely to attract many a feathered friend, but at a rather high cost to you.
