The Details
If you’re looking for a powerful pressure washer that is easy on the budget, reliable, and environmentally friendly, the Sun Joe SPX3000 may be the perfect solution. Many people hesitate to buy electric-powered outdoor tools because they believe that the electric motors won’t offer as much power as a gas motor.
But that’s not really the case anymore — just ask those who have a Patriot Garden Shredder!
Pressure Joe SPX 3000 Functionality
The Pressure Joe SPX3000 shows that you don’t have to sacrifice power when you go electric. With its heavy-duty wobble plate piston 1800-watt /14.5-amp motor, it boasts a max pressure of 2030 PSI, and pumps out an average of 1.76 GPM, making it an absolute workhorse.
The SPX3000 is also easy on the eye with a hard-shell body that comes in an attractive green color. Featuring two separate 30.4 oz detergent tanks, this design allows the user to switch back and forth between different types of cleaners in the same cleaning session without hassle.
The SPX3000 has five different color-coded quick-connect spray tips: 0° (most powerful — use with care!), 15°, 25°, 40° (most gentle), and the soap tip, allowing you to confidently tackle any project. The spray tips mount conveniently on the machine for easy access.
There’s no need to struggle to move this machine around, as it only weighs 31 lbs fully assembled. It stands 33. 9” tall, 15.6” deep, and 13.5” wide so you can store it easily when not in use.
It has a 34” extension wand, making the SPX3000 ideal hard to reach places. And, it comes with a 20-ft., high-pressure hose, and a generous 35-ft. GFCI protected power cord. If you want more cord than that, you’ll need a
It is important to review the user’s manual before operating your new Sun Joe SPX3000 and refer to it whenever you have a question. It includes important information and tips for operating and caring for your pressure washer.
Following the manufacturer’s advice will enable you to get years of faithful service from your machine.
Who is the SPX 3000 For?
The Sun Joe SPX 3000 is a great pressure washer for those who want to keep their patio furniture, decks, patios, pergolas, etc. clean without too much fuss.
We should note that if you’re planning to clean off teak outdoor furniture and sofa sets, you probably don’t want to use a pressure washer. Or at least, you should be very cautious in doing so.
See our guide to outdoor teak care for more information.
The Competition
There are several electric pressure washers on the market, but most don’t come close to the powerful PSI of the Sun Joe SPX3000, and it’s worth checking out our Pressure Washer Buying Guide if you’re in the market for washer. A couple of choices that claim similar PSI and GPM ratings are highlighted here for comparison.
One option is the Karcher K5 Premium Electric Power Pressure Washer with 2000 PSI and 1.4 GPM. The Karcher has almost as much pressure output as the Sun Joe, but not quite the GPM equivalent.
Instead of different sized spray tips, it offers an adjustable spray wand and a single detergent tank. A nice feature is an attached 25-foot hose reel. Like the Sun Joe, it has a 2-year warranty, but costs significantly more.,
Another option is the Xtremepower US XP3000S which claims to have a 2000 PSI with a 1.8 GPM. It comes with a 20-foot hose reel, like the Karcher K5, and also features an onboard detergent tank. It includes a 33-foot retractable power cord (a nice touch) and has three color-coded spray tips: 0°, 25°, and a detergent tip.
It seems to be a good dollar value, coming in quite a bit under the Karcher, and similarly priced to the Sun Joe. However, with little information on this product, and only a 30-day warranty, it has yet to prove itself against its strong competition.
Concerns with the Sun Joe SPX3000 Washer
There are a few concerns that commonly pop up regarding the SPX3000 that buyers should be aware of.
One of the main criticisms has to do with the garden hose connector. It is plastic and may strip out if cross threaded. If care is used, this shouldn’t be a problem. Sun Joe does offer a brass quick connect setup if you want something more heavy-duty.
Also, the hose thread (M22) does not have the standard 14mm inside diameter common in the USA. Rather, it is 15mm which is more common in Europe. This can make it challenging to add accessories made by other brands. When in doubt, pick up Sun Joe branded accessories.
One additional note: disconnect and dry the spray tips when not in use so they don’t rust. The pump will not run if the spray tips are clogged with dust or debris. If they should happen to rust, you can clean them out with vinegar. A needle clean-out tool is included with the unit for cleaning the nozzles as well.
The Bottom Line
Whatever your pressure washing needs—driveways, sidewalks, decks, patios, cars, patio furniture—the list goes on, the Sun Joe SPX 3000 Pressure Washer will get the job done, quietly and efficiently.
It’s lightweight, easy to use, and good for the environment, not to mention your budget.
You don’t have to hassle with renting anymore or need to use heavy gas-powered machines that disturb your neighbors and gag you with fumes. You can clean with confidence using the Sun Joe SPX3000.
