The Modway Sojourn 8 Piece set is an elegant, modern outdoor living set. It is available in three fabric options, with pillows included, so there’s no need for shopping for accessories!

With a stylish PE Wicker Weave in an espresso color that’s not quite black, this set will pop in any environment, outdoor or indoor!

The Modway Sojourn set is a bit unusual compared to the other patio furniture sets on our list, in that it doesn’t have a ton of seating, though the sets themselves are quite cozy.

While it is an 8 piece set, three of the pieces are made up of tables (two side tables, and one coffee table), and two of the pieces are ottomans. There is only seating for four, unless people want to sit on the ottomans, which works fine in a pinch, but isn’t practical for long-term usage.

The tables are attractive, but there is no storage available in either the coffee table or the side tables.

The Sojourn set also is only marginally sectional. It can be rearranged a bit, but not completely. The love seat doesn’t break apart into pieces, and the armchairs have arms on both sides, so they can’t be combined together easily as well. You can basically move the ottomans and side tables around, which makes the set a little bit sectional, but not really.

If you want a highly configurable outdoor furniture set, the Sojourn is probably not what you’re looking for.

The Genuine Ohana Sunbrella sectional seats are made of lightweight, rust-free powder coated aluminum. This frame is then covered with a hand-woven PE resin wicker that is just a shade away from solid black.

These aluminum chairs are light enough to be moved around but are quite robust when sat upon. They will support up to 300lbs of weight and are surprisingly comfortable. The seats have a pleasant 28″ tall backing, so the chairs are capable of supporting your back pretty well.

The sectional seating is extremely flexible and configurable, with a wide array of design options available. Use your imagination, and you’ll be able to find the optimal outdoor seating configuration for your patio!

The two chaise lounge chairs included have a wrap-around wicker frame and have four back configuration options. You can lay down completely, sit up completely, or lounge somewhere in between!

The 4″ thick Sunbrella cushions are extremely high quality on the Ohana sectional sets. The cushions are sloped a bit, from 3.5″ to 7″, for comfort. They are attached to the wicker frame with Velcro strips, so they generally stay in place without too much of a struggle.

Ohana has several fabric color options, but do note that only some of the fabric choices are Sunbrella. We definitely recommend spending the small extra cost on getting the Sunbrella fabric, as it is simply much more robust, and has an excellent 5-year warranty. The covers have zippers, and are machine washable — but be sure to line dry or dry on low heat, as you don’t want the covers to shrink!

And of course, you should still cover this set whenever possible to increase its usable life!

Inclement weather is the enemy of all outdoor furniture. To combat bad weather, Ohana has included two excellent patio furniture covers that are to be placed over the entire set when bad weather is on its way. One cover is for the main sofa and chairs, and another is included for the chaise lounges.

The quality of the Harmonia Living Urbana outdoor furniture set is unsurpassed. The frames are made of reinforced aluminum and are lightweight and sturdy. They are powder coated for protection and are rust resistant. The brushed aluminum chair feet are completely rust-proof and provide an elegant base for the modern sectional seating.

The resin wicker is in a coffee bean shade, definitely on the brown side as opposed to black. It looks lovely, and complements the stunning array of Sunbrella cushions perfectly! HDPE Resin Wicker is the highest quality of resin wicker available, and the UV-protected finish looks stunning and will last quite a while if properly taken care of.

The Sunbrella cushions are as high quality as the frame, with a great color selection available, and excellent foam support. The back cushions are a bit softer than the seat cushions for comfort, and ties are included with the cushions to ensure they stay on the seat frames (and to ensure your guests stay on the seat frames, too!)

No cover is included with this set, so we strongly recommend buyers purchase a patio furniture cover to protect the Urbana! This set is clearly not cheap, and even though it is extremely robust and high quality, it will still get beaten up by the weather over time. The more you use your patio furniture covers, the longer the set will last.

There’s no assembly required with the Harmonia Living set, just set them in the location you desire, and tie the cushions on. At that point, you’re good to go!

The La-Z-Boy Sawyer six piece Sunbrella outdoor furniture set is by far the least modern furniture set on our list today, though it is surprisingly high quality for its price point.

The Details

If you’re looking for comfort outdoors, the La-Z-Boy Sawyer Sunbrella Conversation Set is for you. With seating for four (six in a pinch), there’s a good deal of room, and quite a bit of functionality here. The materials are high quality, with a powder-coated steel frame wrapped in PE Wicker. The cushions are all Sunbrella, and the whole set is quite beefy.

The steel frame is a bit different than the aluminum frames found on most of the other sets on our list today. Steel is a bit heavier, and perhaps a bit more sturdy, but is harder to move around.

Where this set is not sectional, most likely once you have it in the configuration you like, you won’t need to move things around too much, so the steel frame is not an issue for most.

The medium brown PE-wicker weave covers the entirety of the frames, including the area beneath the chair cushions. It also wraps all around the table, with the exception of the tempered glass top. One feature we like about this set is that the table has some storage, with a shelf! It is unique among our list today and is a small, helpful extra that makes this set a bit more functional than most.

The cushions are made of Sunbrella fabric — the best outdoor fabric available. Unfortunately, the covers are not removable and should be cleaned with mild soap and water. This is an odd choice, and we would much prefer removable cushion covers! Be sure to store the cushions in a deck box or other shelter whenever possible to keep them dry and protected from weather damage.

The cushions are loose and are not attached to the frame at all. If this bothers you, consider some stick-on Velcro straps [Amazon Link].

The Sawyer set is a sturdy weather-resistant outdoor furniture set, but it should be covered with a patio furniture cover when not in use. Protecting the set will only increase its life, and will ensure everything is dry and UV-sheltered when not in use.

Assembly

There is some assembly required on this set, but not a whole lot.

The armchairs arrive fully assembled, and only need the cushions to be placed on them. However, the sofa, table, and ottoman require some work. The back of the couch must be attached to the frame, and the ottoman and table need to be put together.

When assembling these pieces, do a first round and get all of the bolts partially tightened before going around again and fully tightening everything. By doing this you can be sure all bolts will line up with the pre-drilled holes.

The Bottom Line

The La-Z-Boy Sawyer outdoor furniture set is an excellent choice for those who don’t want the super clean modern look, don’t need a sectional, and who are looking for comfort and a classic furniture brand name.
