Materials and Build Quality
The water storage container by WaterBrick is constructed of a soft blue colored polyethylene material that works to help keep items stored inside safe and free from any exterior contaminants and helps prevent spoilage. Unlike some other similar products, the Waterbrick’s unique design isn’t very bulky, and its color ensures that the storage bricks won’t stand out wherever they are placed.
The HDPE polyethylene material that forms the Waterbrick’s walls make it pretty sturdy, which is ideal should the bricks need to be transported frequently.
But if the container is made of plastic, is it safe? Is the Waterbrick plastic BPA Free?
Yes! We are pleased that the polyethylene is BPA free, so there’s no need to worry about chemical resins seeping into the water or food stored in the containers.
Use and Transport
To add water or food into this product, there are openings on each container stack. Liquid or food can be poured into the fill hole, and then the opening can be sealed with the plug attached to it.
To transport the containers around, simply grab the handle on the top of it. The handle is designed to help make moving it around, even if it’s completely filled, easy to do.
Storage of Food and Water
The Waterbrick is mainly intended to be used for storing water and food for future purposes. This is not a water bottle, nor are they Tupperware style dry goods containers.
This storage system is a secure and durable product, so there’s no need to worry about it breaking easily or the containers slipping off of each other, but they aren’t designed to be opened and closed daily. It’s pretty easy to tell whether or not there is anything inside an individual container.
When storing water, it’s usually best to filter the water first to ensure there are no impurities in the water before storage. However, unfiltered water can be used in it if necessary. Should you wish to store unfiltered water, you may want to pick up a Water Preserver Concentrate which can help to store the unfiltered liquid safely for many years.
Unfiltered water can last for about one year in the containers and filtered water for up to five years.
Should you want to freeze the contents of a Waterbrick, that’s fine. These containers are designed to be frozen. Be sure to not overfill the container, and leave some room for expansion if you’re filling with water.

Stacking the Waterbrick
The Waterbrick, when filled, can be cross-stacked up to 5′ in height, though the company recommends not going above 4′. The bricks should be cross-stacked to ensure stability. If you’ve got a lot of them filled up, you should certainly consider the weight load of the bricks
The Waterbrick is quite well regarded and is a pretty solid product. However, some have had issues with leakage over time. This is typically due to the gasket being placed improperly, and the seal failing over time. Be very careful to get the gasket seated properly, and hopefully, you won’t have any issues with leakage. When closing the Waterbrick, a small plastic disk, which is included with the purchase, needs to be inserted into the lid to better protect the contents inside.
Assembling and stacking the Waterbrick is quite easy to do. Just take two containers and place them on top of each other until they are secured together. This can be tested by lifting up the handle on the top container to make sure they are both attached and don’t slip apart.
To take the Waterbrick product apart, simply take the stacks off of each other one by one. Be sure to use the handles on the top to do this to help prevent possible injuries from occurring. To take the capsules on the spouts off, unscrew them until they become loose and can be removed easily.
Cleaning and Maintenance
To ensure the Waterbrick stays cleaned and well-maintained, it’s important to make sure to clean regularly. To clean, start by emptying any remaining liquid or food inside the containers, and then pour some dishwashing soap and water into the fill holes.
In order to make sure the cleaning solution reaches all areas of the container, swish it around a bit until all interior parts are covered in the cleaning liquid. To fully sanitize, add a few small drops of bleach to the soapy cleaning solution, but make sure that the containers are fully rinsed out with fresh water before using them again.
The same cleaning process can be done with the lid and plastic disk inside it. Make sure that these objects are fully rinsed and dried off before use.
Accessories
While this product doesn’t come with extra accessories when purchased, there are a few that can be bought on the side. One is a WaterBrick Ventless Spigot which can be put into the fill holes of the containers and help to disperse liquid out of them without making a mess. It is a big help for those who figure they will regularly need to access their Waterbricks.
As we mentioned above, you may also want to pick up some Water Preserver Concentrate, which can be used to help keep tap water clean in the containers for up to five years.
- Works with both WaterBrick water container sizes
- Blue Lid and Gasket
- Plastic Nut to secure the Spigot to the Lid (tightens easily by hand)
